Jack is doing so well. He is impressing me every day with new words. He has such a great vocabulary for a 1 year old. His physical therapist said that what he lacks in gross motor skills he makes up for and surpasses with his language and cognitive skills.
The other day we were playing in the computer room and he pointed to the screen and said “bu-fly”. The background of the desktop is a picture of a butterfly. I was so proud of him! I didn’t even know he knew what a butterfly was- I have mentioned it before but I didn’t know he got it. I guess always talking to him and reading to him is starting to really show.
I was getting him ready for bed last night and I walked over to get a book to read to him and he looked at me and said “Mama, Brown Bear” (it sounded more like “Mama, ba-bear”) becuase he wanted to read “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” I was so proud of him! And then when we finished the book he said “Mama, Wa-wa” (water). I was so impressed
One of his favorite games to play is “Noah’s Arc” Here are some pictures of him playing–
I tell him the name of each animal and what sound they make. We say “bye-bye” to each animal as we push it through the door and into the boat and when they are all in the boat we take of the top and dump them out and start over- he loves doing that so much.

His favorite animals are the lion and the giraffe. I say “Jack, what sound does a lion make?” and he makes the funniest sound you have ever heard like an angry cat screeching/growling. He knows I say “Roar” but his lion sound is more authentic- LOL.
He tries to say giraffe but it comes out as “Ra-raf”… he is so cute. There is a toy bin of food on the arc for the animals so I brought an animal over to it and made a chewing sound and Jack took every animal (one at a time) and fed them the “food” while making the cutest chewing sound you have ever heard. He had the biggest smile on his face- I wish I got it on video.
At the end of playgroup each week we sit in a circle with the kids and sing songs. Most of the kids sit on their Mom’s laps and the moms help the babies do the hand motions for “itsy-bitsy-spider” and “if your happy and you know it clap your hands”, etc. Jack doesn’t want my help at all anymore. He squirms off my lap and sits in the circle and does all the hand motions by himself
Earlier this week Jack and I took a walk after dinner and there was a big band having a dress rehersal on the town common. A small crowd had gathered to watch so we sat on the grass and had a great time listening to an awesome band! Jack was in his PJ’s already but I let him crawl around in the grass and the band handed out shakers to the kids so Jack had such a fun time playing along with the music! Here is a picture of him at the concert…
I love how a ray of sunshine is streaming across the picture and I love the look on Jack’s face!

Here are a few more pictures from our week (we spend a lot of time at the town beach)…

Attacking sand castles with his shovel… ha ha

The house is still a green-blue color in the background of this last pic…. I have pictures of the pink house (they painted the back of the house today) but Mom would kill me if I posted them… I’m sure she wants to show you guys in person herself. So for now I won’t post any pink house pictures but I will say that it looks AWESOME!!! Judy- if you are reading this you should come over soon and see the house! Grammy- less than two weeks until you are here- the house will be done by then!
